Obituary of Florence Ward

WARD, Florence Alzina (Haight) - We grieve the loss of our dear mother Florence at the age of 92 on Tuesday, April 4, 2012 at the Davey Home. Beloved wife of the late Lewis Ward, loving mother of Stan (Marlene) and Russ (Cathy). Cherished grandmother of Sherry Brosnan of Maple Ridge B.C., Mark (Paula) Winnipeg, Tracie, Lindsay, Aaron (Aida) Edmonton, Ryan (Elena) Winnipeg and Amanda (Taylan) South Dakota. Great grandma of 12 and Great great grandma of 1. Florence was born on Cockburn Island on Sept. 3, 1919, daughter of the late Stanley Haight and Clarabelle Goodmurphy. Daughter-in-law of the late Dolena and Russell Ward. Predeceased by brothers and wives Carl (Mae), Allan (Eleanor), and Denzil (Frieda). Also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Florence was a dedicated flag bearer and member of the Ladies Auxillary and the Colour Party at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #25 for over 30 years. Funeral service will be held at the Pinehill Church of Christ, 132 Cunningham Rd. on Saturday, April 14 at 11:00 a.m. The service will be followed by a luncheon at the Royal Canadian Legion on Great Northern Rd. Memorial donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. A special thank you to the caring staff on Driftwood at the Davey Home.
