Thelma and Dave Long posted a condolence

We were so sorry to hear that Florence is no longer with us. I, Thelma, was her "twin". We were both born on August 11, 1937. I, in Nothern Saskatchewan and she in Nova Scotia. We met via a request in The Western Producer" posted by Florence when we were both young. "Have I a twin"? I answered and we corresponded for a few years. We found that we were twins in age but not in size. I was 5'6" tall and she was barely 5". Several years ago, I made the effort to "find" her, then living in Ontario. Dave and I met with Florence and Arnold several times and they visted with us here in Saskatchewan. It was a wonderful friendship between couples. Rest in Peace, dear little twin Thelma (Eckdahl) and David Long

i remember attending Aunt Florence's wedding at The Club Acadien in Ste Anne du Ruisseau. She appointed me in charge of carrying the Wedding Cake in. When I was taking it out of the car I stumbled and dropped the cake. Thankfully it dropped flat but slid a little, so there was a bit of gravel on the cake. Aunt Florence was so forgiving and thought it was funny. She brushed the gravel off and smoothed the icing...she was very gracious and I was so grateful for that.... A sweet Aunt with a sweet and still a sweet Soul....may the Angels enjoy her Singing....

My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time of loss of Florence. Florence and Arnold were dear friends of Alvin and I and had a special relationship with our Stephanie during our 'farming' years in Bruce Mines and on 'the Island'. They had a special visit with us here in Victoria and we always re-connected on our return visits to Ontario. Precious memories Caryl Oja

Dear Aunt Florence It is with great sadness that you have departed our lives and although you are no longer here in the physical world your spirt and joy of life will be with me for the rest of my days. I cherish the times we spent together when you stayed with us, the laughter we shared and the long talks about family and life. Although you were my Aunt I always felt that our relationship was much more than that, you were my friend. You will be missed by you children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters and I will miss you. For Gerry, Mark and family my prayers and thoughts are with you. God Bless Your Loving niece and friend. Elaine

Florence worked very hard as a member of Matthews Memorial Hospital Association. She was a strong advocate of keeping the hospital open. I always enjoyed her conversations and her company.
