Obituary of Albina Perri

Please share a memory of Albina to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mom on Thursday, May 5, 2022, at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital at the age of 90.  Predeceased by our father Angelo, her beloved husband of 55 years.  Dearly loved mother of Rose (John), Mirella and Francesca (Luis). Cherished nonna of adoring grandchildren Jaclyn, Stephanie, Tyler, and Angelica. Predeceased by her loving parents Antonio and Rachele Falvo of Italy and her siblings Letterina Saladino (late Vincenzo), Peppino Falvo (late Olga), Antonietta Falvo and Sestino Falvo (Teresa) of Italy. Dear daughter-in-law of the late Rosa and the late Francesco Perri. Sister-in-law of the late Joseph and the late Carmine Perri (late Marietta). Lovingly remembered by her treasured nieces, nephews, cousins, and life-long friends.

Alba was born in San Bernardo (Decollatura), Catanzaro Italy on February 20, 1932, to Antonio and Rachele Falvo.  In 1952, she was introduced to Angelo Perri, a handsome young man from her hometown, who had immigrated to Canada in 1949. Although they never met in person, the couple corresponded regularly by mail, and their long-distance romance blossomed until Angelo proposed.  The engagement was short-lived, but Angelo never forgot Alba. Seven years later, Angelo took a last-minute holiday to Italy, and made a final attempt to rekindle with Alba who was engaged to another. Alba took one look at Angelo and was smitten.  She called off her engagement and married Angelo. After a brief honeymoon in Italy, Alba left her entire family in Italy and moved to Sault Ste. Marie to start a family with Angelo.

Warm, kind, and loving, Alba was devoted to her husband and three daughters. She was an incredibly talented cook, who took pride in making homemade meals for her family. Her daughters still remember the smell of fresh pizza at lunch when they came home from school. Her homemade gnocchi and lasagna were legendary. Alba also enjoyed knitting, crochet and needlepoint and was a skilled gardener.

Beautiful inside and out, Alba had a smile that lit up a room. She had a great sense of humour and was energetic and young at heart until the end. We will dearly miss our mom but take comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with her beloved Angelo. They were a wonderful couple and wonderful parents. We were blessed.
